Who is the Antichrist Introduction
The truth on antichrist in the Bible was first discovered by all the early Protestants and even the translators of the King James Bible. Why have all the Churches that originated from these Protestants lost this vital truth? This is a very important topic as it also tells us who it is that enforces the mark of the beast and relates to the Battle of Armageddon. Our adversary will stop at nothing to prevent Christians from finding or keeping this truth and I am disappointed and stunned that he has managed to steal this truth from so many Churches over the last few centuries. I am going to outright reveal whom all these people knew to be antichrist and then give supporting evidence.
All these people knew the Papal Church is the little horn of Daniel 7 been synonymous with the antichrist power of Revelation 13. Many of them died by the hand of this very power that ruled as Church and state for 1260 horrid years. “John Wycliffe, William Tyndale (translated the Bible - Tyndale Bible), Martin Luther, John Calvin, Thomas Cranmer; in the seventeenth century, Bunyan, the translators of the King James Bible and the men who published the Westminster and Baptist confessions of Faith; Sir Isaac Newton, John Wesley, Whitfield, Jonathan Edwards; and more recently Spurgeon, Bishop J.C. Ryle and Dr. Martin Lloyd-Jones; these men among countless others, all saw the office of the Papacy as the antichrist.” — All Roads Lead to Rome, by Michael de Semlyen. So what does the bible show to be the origins of antichrist? We find that John said that in his time there were MANY Antichrists and that anyone that denies Jesus came in the flesh is antichrist. 2 John 1:7. This for example would include a Church that denies Jesus came in the flesh by insisting that Christ took on the sinless nature of Mary’s flesh. It may shock you to know that John made it very clear that the origin of antichrist was from the early Church. Note carefully what is said in the following passage and consider who John is referring to when he says US.
1 John 2:18-19 “Little children, it is the last time: and as you have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there MANY antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 19 They went out from US, but they were not of US; for if they had been of US, they would no doubt have continued with US: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of US.”
There is no mistaking that John is warning us that antichrist was part of the early Church that he and the other disciples established but they went out on their own and formed their own Church. This is not an individual although could be headed by an individual, especially when you consider that Revelation 13:18 says that 666 is the number of a man heading this beast power. continued. You will note also that John is pointing out that Antichrist means in place of Christ and not just against Christ. So who is it that claims to be God on Earth and places himself in place of Christ? Which Church broke away from the early Church and makes this blasphemous claim? The quotes below will give further confirmation on the answer to this question.
For those who are not aware of the Bible definitions for blasphemy, John gives the answer to this one also with the following scripture.
John 10:33 “The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone you not; but for blasphemy; and because that you, being a man, makest thyself God.”
“The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in Heaven and earth.” — Pope Pius V, quoted in Barclay, Chapter XXVII, p. 218, “Cities Petrus Bertanous.”
“We hold upon this earth the place of God almighty.” — Pope Leo XIII, Encyclical Letter, June 20, 1894.
“The Pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, but he is Jesus Christ, Himself, hidden under the veil of human flesh.” — Catholic National, July 1895.
The Papacy knows the Bible definition of antichrist so who do they say are antichrist?
“Remember and understand well that where Peter is, there is the Church; that those who refuse to associate in communion with the Chair of Peter belong to Antichrist, not to Christ. He who would separate himself from the Roman Pontiff has no further bond with Christ.” — Pope Leo XIII, Satis Cognitum, quoted in “Acts of Leo XIII: Supreme Pontiff”, Rome: Vatican Press, 1896, (quoted in Apostolic Digest, by Michael Malone, Book 4: “The Book of Christians”, Chapter 4: “There is No Allegiance to Christ Without Submission to the Pope”).
“The (Catholic) Church is the entrance to life; all others are thieves and robbers. On this account we are bound to avoid them....Resist them in defense of the only true and life giving faith, which the Church has received from the Apostles and imparted to her sons.” — St. Irenaeus, Against Heresies, Book III, (quoted in article “The Perennial Understanding of the Church”, by Saint Benedict Center).
A study of history and primarily Daniel chapters 2 and 7 and Revelation 13 reveal beyond doubt as to who is the antichrist and that it can be no other than the Roman Catholic Church, which is partly how all the early protestants discovered the truth also, but we are not going to go into that part of the evidence in this document and instead look at another chapter in Revelation that also shows this can be no other than a Church that is drunk on the “blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.” Just for a brief look at what many of the famous late theologians understood about the Papacy in regards to Daniel, here is Adam Clarke's Commentary on the Bible.
Adam Clarke, LL.D., F.S.A., (1715-1832)
“Daniel 7:25 - He shall speak great words against the Most High - Sermones quasi Deus loquetur; “He shall speak as if he were God.” So St. Jerome quotes from Symmachus. To none can this apply so well or so fully as to the popes of Rome. They have assumed infallibility, which belongs only to God. They profess to forgive sins, which belongs only to God. They profess to open and shut heaven, which belongs only to God. They profess to be higher than all the kings of the earth, which belongs only to God. And they go beyond God in pretending to loose whole nations from their oath of allegiance to their kings, when such kings do not please them! And they go against God when they give indulgences for sin. This is the worst of all blasphemies!
And shall wear out the saints - By wars, crusades, massacres, inquisitions, and persecutions of all kinds. What in this way have they not done against all those who have protested against their innovations, and refused to submit to their idolatrous worship? Witness the exterminating crusades published against the Waldenses and Albinenses. Witness John Huss, and Jerome of Prague. Witness the Smithfield fires in England! Witness God and man against this bloody, persecuting, ruthless, and impure Church!
And think to change times and laws - Appointing fasts and feasts; canonizing persons whom he chooses to call saints; granting pardons and indulgences for sins; instituting new modes of worship utterly unknown to the Christian Church; new articles of faith; new rules of practice; and reversing, with pleasure, the laws both of God and man. - Dodd.
Until a time and times and the dividing of time - In prophetic language a time signifies a year; and a prophetic year has a year for each day. Three years and a half (a day standing for a year, as in Joh_9:24) will amount to one thousand two hundred and sixty years, if we reckon thirty days to each month, as the Jews do.”
The first beast of Revelation 13 that enforces 666 and the Mark of the beast and persecutes the saints is further spoken of in Revelation 14 as the Bible looks further at the consequences of taking the mark and those who do not by worshipping God only and keeping His Commandments. Revelation 14:12. We find in chapter 14 that this same beast is referred to as Babylon and is one and the very same as Mystery Babylon.
Revelation 17:1-6 “And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will show unto you the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: 2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. 3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: 5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.”
The following is a brief scripture breakdown on the most significant points that makes sense of the above passage and its meaning. Starting with point 1:
1. “the great whore [Woman/Church] that sitteth upon many waters: [Peoples/Nations]”
God referred to Israel as His Old Testament Church as SHE and HER etc, and a whore when she committed idolatry which is adultery as the Church is the bride of Christ. Literal Babylon sat on the literal Euphrates river while spiritual Babylon being the Papal Church as they have taken on all the characteristics of literal Babylon sits on a symbolic river Euphrates and symbolizes many nations and people.
Jeremiah 3:1-25 “…If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? ...but you have played the HARLOT with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD. 2 …you have polluted the land with your WHOREDOMS and with your wickedness. 3 …you hadst a WHORE'S FOREHEAD, you refusedst to be ashamed… 6 The LORD said also unto me… Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there has played the HARLOT… 8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the HARLOT also… 20 Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have you dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD.”
Revelation 17:15 “And he saith unto me, The waters which you sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.”
2. “I saw a woman [Church] sit upon a scarlet [Sin] coloured beast [Kingdom]”
As already shown and more detail will be given later below, a Church is symbolized by a woman in the Bible. A beast is a kingdom and so what we have above is a Church in control of a beast or rather should we say a Church in control of a kingdom as was the Papal Church in control of Europe for 1260 years. It was both Church and state. See also Revelations Two Witnesses in regards to this time period.
Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
Daniel 7:23 “Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.”
3. “the woman [Church] was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold”
These are the exact same colours of the Roman Catholic priest's robes except they are missing the colour blue that the Old Testament priest's robes had which symbolized God's law. It is understood that the tablets of the Ten Commandments were cut from the clear blue sapphire seen on mount Sinai (Exodus 24:10), which makes up the very throne of God (Ezekiel 1:26, 10:1). So, the Ark of the Covenant in the most holy apartment of the sanctuary, the throne of God's presence (the Shekinah glory), contained the blue sapphire tablets of the Ten Commandments.
Exodus 28:4-6 “And these are the garments which they shall make; a breastplate, and an ephod, and a robe, and a broidered coat, a mitre, and a girdle: and they shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, and his sons, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office. 5 And they shall take gold, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen. 6 And they shall make the ephod of gold, of blue, and of purple, of scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cunning work.”
Numbers 15:38-39 “Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue: 39 And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that you may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that you seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which you use to go a whoring:”
4. “I saw the woman [Church] drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus:”
The Catholic Church tortured and murdered between 50,000,000 and 150,000,00 Christians as heretics for reasons such as translating the Bible as they burned William Tyndale at the stake for that, or keeping the Seventh Day Sabbath that they changed in honour of Sun worship. Millions of Christians died as martyrs trying to spread the Gospel truth. The following quotes reveal what they call a heretic and what they say should be done to heretics and history reveals they did all that and more.
“Heretics (those who are not members of the Catholic Church or who do not hold to Catholic doctrine) worship a God who is a liar, and a Christ who is a liar.” — St. Augustine, (quoted in “Patrologiae Cursus Completus: Series Graca”, by Fr. J. P. Migne, Paris: 1866, 42:207).
“He is a heretic who does not believe what the Roman Hierarchy teaches.” — The American Textbook of Popery, p 164 (quoting from the “Directory for the Inquisitors”).
“The church may by divine right confiscate the property of heretics, imprison their person, and condemn them to flames. In our age, the right to inflict the severest penalties, even death, belongs to the church. There is no graver offense than heresy, therefore it must be rooted out.” — Public Eccliastical, Vol. 2, p.142.
“When confronted with heresy, she (Catholic Church) does not content herself with persuasion, arguments of an intellectual and moral order appear to her insufficient, and she has recourse to force, to corporal punishment, to torture.” — The Rector of the Catholic Institute of Paris, H.M.A. Baudrillart, quoted in The Catholic Church, The Renassance, and Protestantism,p 182-183.
“A heretic merits the pains of fire....By the Gospel, the canons, civil law, and custom, heretics must be burned.” — The American Textbook of Popery, p 164 (quoting from the “Directory for the Inquisitors”).

So what we basically have in Revelation 17:1-6 is an adulterous sinful Church in control of a kingdom (which they were for 1260 years called the dark ages) that changed God's law and so is a scarlet (sin) coloured kingdom further reinforced by the fact that the colour blue is missing that represents God's law. Is it significant that most Churches worship on SUN-day today because they nearly murdered the Seventh day Sabbath out of existence? What is the meaning of this Commandment? Has Satan got the majority of Christians deceived here. Revelation 13:2 says that the dragon (Satan) gave his power to this Church. Why? Satan said he wanted to be like the most high and he wanted to be worshipped as God. What Commandment defines who we worship? Which Commandment defines who and what we should not worship? Which two Commandments did the Roman Catholic Church change?
A Church is represented symbolically by a Woman
You will now further note from scripture that a Church in the Bible is frequently referred to as a woman. As already shown, this even includes Israel as the Old Testament Church. You will note from the scriptures below that when she worshipped other gods etc, she was called a “Harlot” and a “Whore.”
Ezekiel 16:26-32 “You have also committed FORNICATION with the Egyptians your neighbours, great of flesh; and have increased your whoredoms, to provoke me to anger… 28 You have played the WHORE also with the Assyrians, because you were unsatiable; yes, you have played the HARLOT with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied. 29 You have moreover multiplied your FORNICATION in the land of Canaan unto Chaldea; and yet you were not satisfied herewith. 30 How weak is thine heart, saith the Lord God, seeing you doest all these things, the work of an imperious WHORISH WOMAN; 31 In that you buildest thine eminent place in the head of every way, and makest thine high place in every street; and have not been as an HARLOT, in that you scornest hire; 32 But as a wife that committeth ADULTERY, which taketh strangers instead of her husband!”
Isaiah 54:5-6 “For your Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and your Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. 6 For the LORD has called you as a WOMAN forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when you were refused, saith your God.”

Ephesians 5:31-32 “For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning CHRIST AND THE CHURCH.”
2 Corinthians 11:2 “For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.”
We find also of course that Christ is represented as the Bridegroom and the Church is the bride, which of course is why the Church is represented as a Woman.
Matthew 9:14-15 “Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but your disciples fast not? 15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.”
The following verse refers to God's true Church.
Revelation 12:1 “And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:”
Revelation 19:7-8 “Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his WIFE has made herself ready. 8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.”
The Papal system is the major theme in Revelation as well as Daniel because since not long after Christ, SHE has continued to have a massive impact on what truly does matter to God, i.e., His Church. She is the root of many false doctrines, has changed God’s law and shed the blood of millions of innocent Christians they called heretics etc. Hover over this link

The pagan name Sunday comes from the fact that the day was changed in honour of SUN worship hence the name SUN-day. So here is more evidence on who is the antichrist by proving the Beast power is also Mystery Babylon and is most evident by the fact that this is a woman which represents a Church. When Israel committed spiritual adultery, God called His Old Testament Church a “HARLOT” and a “WHORISH WOMAN” and a “WHORE” and accused her of “FORNICATION” and “ADULTERY.” The Catholic Church is guilty of much worse than Israel including Sun worship. You will note that we are dealing the same situation with this woman (Church) in regards to Mystery Babylon.
In a recent address to the nations, Pope Benedict caused a major uproar among many Churches as he referred to the Catholic Church as being the “MOTHER” Church and called for all the daughter Churches to come back to HER. Many of the Churches today are called daughter Churches because they originally came from the Catholic Church, eg: Martin Luther, who had been a Catholic priest established the Lutheran Church. Sadly, many of the daughter Churches have also ignorantly inherited various false doctrines and this is why SHE is called the “MOTHER OF HARLOTS” as is Mystery Babylon.
It is not hard to see that the antichrist power referred to in the Bible is a Church even without the history and main Bible evidence.
